Until recently the story had alluded me, but the song hadn’t. Today is the day the swallows leave the village of San Juan Capistrano and in tribute we have to play this song by the Ink Spots. To remind us that they will be back on March 19th (St. Joseph’s Day). To learn more visit the San Juan Capistrano Mission website to find out about the swallow’s history & story .
After the summer spent within the sheltered walls of the Old Mission in San Juan Capistrano, the swallows take flight again, and on the Day of San Juan, October 23rd, they leave after circling the Mission bidding farewell to the “Jewel of the Missions.”
