Bessie Stringfield (1911-1993): The Motorcycle Queen of Miami
Starting in the 1920’s, one black woman began motorcycling around America. She made her living by doing stunts, winning races, and carrying secret documents for the government.
Refused by every motel, she’d sleep on her motorcycle at gas stations.
Her name was Bessie Stringfield.
